Accessibility/Section 508 Consulting
I provide skills to make sites accessible for persons with disabilities and to comply with standards like US Section 508 or W3C WAI WCAG at all stages of the web site lifecycle, from information architecture, to design, to development and implementation, to retro-fitting exisiting sites.
I also work with Accessibility Associates and Empathy Lab to provide these services to customers.
Web Development
I provide both front-end and back-end web development and maintenance for small-to-medium sized projects or in collaboration for larger projects. The main technologies I work with are:
- Standards-based front-end development using HTML/XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript
- Flash for animation, multimedia, interactivity
- Back-end development .NET (C#), PHP, Perl, ColdFusion, ASP
- Database-driven sites using MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle
Web Design
I provide web site design with and emphasis on functional, aesthetically pleasing sites that are both human- and search-engine friendly, making use of the principles of usability and information architecture.
Training
I teach technology, manager-level overviews of web technology to in-depth coding. I have taught classes on such topics as XHTML, JavaScript, MySQL, ColdFusion, ASP, and Web Accessibility/Section 508 to name just to few to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, SRA, Fannie Mae, the University of Maryland University College, Lockheed Martin, the National Science Foundation, and America Online, among others.
